Are you looking for an positive activity for your child to do, specifically a martial art? Most after school activities are good, but do they create positive habits for physical fitness, boost confidence, give them an outlet for stresses and creativity? How about help them problem solve and build life long skills.

Have you thought about enrolling your child into a Jiu Jitsu program?

There are many types of martial arts out there, and the benefits they have for children have proven to be successful across the board.

Through a proper martial arts program, children learn important personal skills like discipline, resilience, respect for themselves and others, teamwork…

Physical benefits like strength, endurance, coordination, body awareness and countless others.

But what makes jiu jitsu different from other activites (including other martial arts) lies much deeper than martial arts principles...

3 Ways Jiu Jitsu Will Help Your Child

1. Children will participate in a simple, effective, class that includes DAILY jiu jitsu sparring Because jiu jitsu is a grappling art, sparring can be done in a way that’s safe and repeatable.

This gives children the ability not only to learn martial arts techniques and principles, but also to apply them in real time which is what makes jiu jitsu so effective.

And here’s the punchline,

They get to do this EVERY session, in a controlled and safe environment.

This gives children the ability to apply what they’ve learned on a fully resisting opponent, creating real progress they can see.

While other martial arts may include sparring portions, what makes jiu jitsu sparring different is it can be done consistently in a safe environment.

It can be done every class, with very little risk of injury.

They will experience martial arts in its purest form.

It’s fun, it’s playful (which keeps kids engaged and ready to come back immediately) but it’s also real ( no false confidence here).

Real in the sense that they are building skills grounded in practicality.

Grounded in experience rather than theory.

2. Jiu Jitsu will test and destroy their ego

Being tested in a safe and fun way every class will test every student physically and mentally. All in a fun way, of course, making so they often don't feel like they are testing themselves.

In a child’s martial arts journey, they will experience failure.

They will "lose" sparring rounds.

They will be tempted to compare themselves to others, and encouraged not too.

A core tenet of ours is:

The only person we compare ourseles to is who we were yesterday.

Teaching children this lesson creates a framework of personal power and progress.

Along with self discipline, work ethic, resiliency, patience, and most importantly…

The construction of self-confidence is rooted in the fact that they are getting better, as opposed to self-confidence rooted in results.

More core tenets:

Progress not perfection

Process not results.

3. Athletic ability of any sort is not a prerequisite to success

We all start somewhere... And our New to BJJ Kids program is a great place to start.

This is one of the best parts of our jiu jitsu programs. We expect nothing from any new student but showing up ready to learn.

We are prepared to work with each and every student no matter their physical or athletic ability. A child CAN and WILL succeed in jiu jitsu of they follow the plan. Not through physical ability but through technical proficiency, and effort.

Athleticism will improve here. Strength will improve here. Cardio will improve here. BUT so will Problem Solving Skills, Technical Understading, Conceptual Understanding, and Confidence.

A goal of ours is to help your child build a:

A superhero like self-confidence.

A self-confidence that is essential for your child as they go through the challenges of life…

Where Do I Go From Here?

The benefits are clear as day…

But now it’s your job to pull the trigger.

Come on by and start a journey you and your child will never forget.
